PROFILE
Born and raised in Koblenz, Germany, Jonas Zschenderlein started to play the violin at the age of 5 and at just 11 years old he began the Baroque violin. As a teenager he was already playing with professional early music groups, and at this time he also founded his own ensemble 4 Times Baroque.
Between 2008 and 2014 Jonas was one of the leaders of the baroque youth orchestra Bachs Erben, which performs without a conductor and is coached by members of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
Today Jonas plays regularly with many early music ensembles throughout Europe, such as Gaechinger Cantorey (Bachakademie Stuttgart), Concerto Köln, Dorothee Oberlinger (Ensemble 1700), and Neumeyer Consort, and he is in great demand as a leader.
Together with the harpsichord player Alexander von Heißen he has recorded a solo album of violin sonatas by Bach, Corelli, Westhoff and Montanari, which was released to great critical acclaim on the label Deutsche Harmonia Mundi/Sony in 2018.
In 2020 Jonas was invited by the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra for a series of 10 concerts in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The tour had been rescheduled to 2021 due to Covid-19. They managed to get him to Australia in 2021, but a sudden lockdown caused the cancellation of all live concerts again and had them produce a concert-like movie instead. In late 2022 Jonas will give it a third try and hopes he will be able to play the all-Bach program live for the Australian audience this time.
As a member of the baroque quartet 4 Times Baroque from 2013 until 2020 he has been invited to many Early Music festivals and was awarded an Opus Klassik prize as “Newcomer of the Year” for their album “Caught in Italian Virtuosity” in 2018.
In collaboration with the “Telemann Zentrum” in Magdeburg/Germany and his brother Zacharias Zschenderlein, he has developed a program called “Telemann Elektrisiert” (electrified) which combines Baroque pieces with Electronic, Jazz and other styles of music.
Jonas studied modern violin with Professor Ariadne Daskalakis and Sebastian Gottschick at the University of Music and Dance (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz) in Cologne.
Studying the Baroque violin has always been an important part of his life and brought him to the CNSMDP (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris) with Professor François Fernandez and to the University of Music in Würzburg (with Prof. Dr. Pauline Nobes and Dr. Tassilo Erhardt).
He has also been influenced by close collaborations with musicians such as Mayumi Hirasaki, Riccardo Minasi, Petra Müllejans, and Hans-Christoph Rademann.
Jonas plays a violin made by an anonymous maker in Bologna, Northern Italy around 1750.
He is a passionate cyclist and gets inspiration for his work while riding his bike in the mountains.
Geboren und aufgewachsen in Koblenz, fing Jonas Zschenderlein im Alter von 5 Jahren an Violine zu spielen und entdeckte bereits als Elfjähriger die Barockgeige für sich.
Schon als Jugendlicher trat er mit professionellen Barockensembles auf und gründete sein eigenes Ensemble 4 Times Baroque.
Von 2008 bis 2014 war Jonas Mitglied und alternierender Konzertmeister des Jugend-Barockorchesters Bachs Erben, welches meist ohne Dirigenten auftritt und von Mitgliedern der Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin betreut wird.
Beim Deutschen Musikwettbewerb 2012 in Bonn wurde er mit dem Barockensemble Concerto +14 als Stipendiat in die 57. Bundesauswahl Konzerte Junger Künstler aufgenommen.
Gegenwärtig konzertiert er, auch als Solist oder Konzertmeister, mit international bekannten Ensembles und Kammermusikformationen aus Europa, darunter Gaechinger Cantorey (Bachakademie Stuttgart), The English Concert, Dunedin Consort, Dorothee Oberlinger (Ensemble 1700) und Il Pomo d’Oro. Konzertreisen führten ihn durch ganz Europa, sowie nach Japan, Korea, China, USA, Kanada und Südamerika. Auftritte als Kammermusiker oder Solist in Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Centre, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Musikverein Wien, Philharmonie de Paris und in fast allen bedeutenden Konzertsälen Deutschlands.
Jonas war von 2009 bis 2013 Jungstudent an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln bei Prof. Ariadne Daskalakis und Sebastian Gottschick.
Das Studium der Barockgeige brachte ihn zu Prof. François Fernandez am CNSNDP (Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris) und an die Hochschule für Musik Würzburg (Prof. Dr. Pauline Nobes).
Weiterhin hat ihn die enge Zusammenarbeit mit Musikern wie Riccardo Minasi, Petra Müllejans, Maurice Steger und Hans-Christoph Rademann geprägt.
Zusammen mit dem Cembalisten Alexander von Heißen nahm er eine CD mit Werken von Bach, Corelli, Westhoff und Montanari auf, welche im August 2018 beim Label deutsche harmonia mundi veröffentlicht wurde und international positive Kritik erntete.
Er spielt eine nicht datierte, anonyme Violine, welche in ihren meisten Teilen Italienisch ist und um das Jahr 1750 gebaut wurde.
Als passionierter Fahrradfahrer findet Jonas in den Bergen und Wäldern Ausgleich und Inspiration für seine Arbeit.

現在は、ゲヒンガー・カントライ(バッハアカデミー・シュトゥットガルト)、イングリッシュ・コンサート、ドニーデン･コンソート、ドロテー・オーバーリンガー率いるアンサンブル1700、モーリス・シュテーガー、イル・ポモ・ドーロなど、国際的に知名度の高いヨーロッパ出身のアンサンブルと共に、コンサートマスターやソロ奏者として演奏活動を行う。また、日本、韓国、中国、アメリカ、カナダ、南アメリカなど、世界各国の演奏会に参加。室内楽奏者、ソロ奏者としての演奏会は、カーネギー・ホール、ウィグモア・ホール、バービカン・センター、アムステルダム・コンセルトヘボウ、ウィーン楽友協会、フィルハーモニー・ド・パリなどが挙げられる。
2009年〜2013年、早期入学生としてケルン音楽大学にてアリアードネ・ダスカラキスに師事。その後パリ国立高等音楽・舞踏学校にてフランソワ・フェルナンデス、ヴュルツブルク音楽大学にてポリン・ノーブスの各氏に師事。その他リカルド・ミナジ、ペトラ・ミュレヤンツ、ハンス＝クリストフ・ラーデマンなど音楽家との共演、指導により研鑽を積む。
2018年、チェンバロ奏者アレクサンダー・フォン･ハイセンとのデュオで、バッハ、コレッリ、ヴェストホフ、モンタナーリの曲を収録したCDをドイツ・ハルモニア・ムンディ(ソニーミュージック)からリリース。
2020、2021年夏オーストラリア・ブランデンブルク・オーケストラにソリスト、ゲストディレクターとして招待される。
使用楽器は1750年代にボローニャ及び北イタリアで作られたヴァイオリン。作者不明。
情熱的なサイクリストでもあり、自転車で森や山を走る際にもインスピレーションを得ている。
